2009 Award of Excellence
The Awards sub-committee of Bill Robertson, David Fox and Jayne Perrin was very impressed with the quality of all the applications for the NZIS Awards of Excellence this year. There were seven applications and all of these reflect significant capability by the members concerned. We think it is a very healthy sign for the future of the survey profession to have entries which demonstrate such high levels of versatility, initiative, innovation and professional and technical capability. It is clear that the new format for the Awards of Excellence have got off to a very good start.
Both “The Lakes” and the Nga Awa Purua Power Station projects represented excellence in two entirely different fields of surveying and were rated equally highly by the assessors in terms of the excellence criteria as each meriting a Gold Award.
The Oaks Subdivision and the Johnsonville Line Tunnel Upgrade projects were again two quite different projects and the assessors rate each as very worth of an award of merit.
